Privacy Policy
Prompt Code (“the app”) does not collect personal data. Everything the app handles is stored on your Mac and is never sent to the developer or anyone else.
Data stored on your Mac
To work, the app keeps the following on your Mac.
- Notes, saved as
.mdfiles in the vault folder you choose. - Settings and window state, such as the theme, shortcuts, the vault location and the open note.
- Clipboard history, the last 200 pieces of copied text. Copies that password managers mark as not to be recorded are skipped. You can clear the history at any time from the menu bar.
In the Mac App Store version, settings and clipboard history live in the app’s own container that macOS provides (~/Library/Containers/dev.prompt-code.desktop), which can be removed along with the app. Your notes stay in the vault folder.
Network
The app does not connect to the internet. Inside the app, the window talks to its storage over 127.0.0.1, an address that only works within your Mac, so this traffic never leaves it.
What the app does not do
There are no accounts, analytics, ads or crash reports. The developer has no way to see your notes, your clipboard history or how you use the app.
Accessibility permission
The app uses it to paste what you pick in quick paste into the app you are typing in. With the permission granted, the app only sends the paste keystroke (⌘V). It does not read the screen or the input of other apps.
